Fraud
Attempts at fraud are not always successful. Many people have developed a healthy suspicion which can protect them from fraud in particular situations. Three aspects need to come together for an attempted fraud to be successful:
- Characteristics of fraud: the perpetrator tries to unsettle, persuade or deceive his victim.
- Characteristics of victim: the potential victim demonstrates a lack of self-confidence and can therefore be influenced easily. Or has exaggerated self-esteem and therefore behaves thoughtlessly.
- Situations of fraud: the victim is in particular living conditions, feels euphoric with happiness or depressed, for example, because he has suffered or is under stress at work.
